Italtel, a leading telecommunications company in next generation networks and services and all-IP communication, announced that it is fully supporting the Telco over Cloud, an NFV and SDN strategy spearheaded by Vodafone. Italtel's support for the initiative also covers the implementation of the Telco over Cloud at Vodafone Germany via a partnership with the networking solutions provider giant, Cisco.
According to Italtel, the project will see the migration of Vodafone Germany's fixed legacy networks onto a common virtualized infrastructure powered by VCE's (a joint venture between VMware, Cisco and EMC) technology and the deployment of innovative services leveraging the new platform.
Italtel said that its support for the Telco over Cloud has continued over the years since its inception in 2012, all the way to when the initiative materialized last year with the delivery of the vNGN (virtual-NGN) project, which is developed based on iMCS (Multimedia Communication Suite), the Italtel modular IMS framework, and on iNEM (Neutral Element Manager), which is Italtel's comprehensive management suite.
