Fujitsu has been selected by NTT DOCOMO, as a development vendor partner to implement network virtualization technology to cater for the fast growing mobile data network. Fujitsu will provide ETSI-compliant communications software for virtualization, as well as its management software, as part of the Evolved Packet Core (EPC) portfolio. Both companies are aiming to bring the network to production in March 2016.
According to Fujitsu, it has been providing NTT DOCOMO with data core network equipments that runs communications software with Serving Gateway (S-GW) and Packet Data Gateway (P-GW) functionality since 2008. Fujitsu said that it has a longstanding partnership with NTT DOCOMO, having delivered everything from network-infrastructure systems to mobile handsets, and looks forward to providing high-quality, high-performance products and solutions as part of its total support for the core network.
