Sandvine, a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, alongside MATRIXX Software - a provider of next generation real-time BSS solutions for Digital Service Providers, Openwave Mobility - a provider of the industry’s scalable SDN/NFV enabled L7 platform, and PeerApp - a leading open content delivery provider, have teamed up to form NFV.net, a forum of leading technology vendors dedicated to fostering the adoption of network functions virtualization (NFV) and promoting the best-of-breed implementation practices through an NFV reference implementation.

NFV.net’s mission is to provide pre-integrated, commercially available NFV solutions for communications service providers (CSPs) of all sizes. Member companies will work hands-on with CSPs to develop, test, and implement virtualization strategies in order to help them navigate the uncertainties that virtualization presents to the telecom industry at this early stage of adoption. However, the NFV.net is an invitation-only alliance, with only one or two key players representing each key network function selected based on certain criteria. The NFV.net will feature a use case library highlighting reference implementations from participant companies and provides a mechanism for some of the industry’s leading technical minds to share their knowhow and expertise.

Don Bowman, CTO, Sandvine
Sandvine is excited about the opportunity that NFV.net will provide to share actual experiences in deploying virtualized solutions with other leading telecom vendors.

Vineet Sachdev, VP Product Management, MATRIXX Software
MATRIXX welcomes the NFV.net initiative and we look forward to developing end-to-end use cases with Sandvine to allow CSPs to package applications and develop innovative propositions – such as app-based pricing - that can be rolled out quickly as virtualized solutions.

Alan Arolovitch, CTO, PeerApp
We are pleased to expand our long-standing and strong partnership with Sandvine in this important initiative. Clearly NFV brings many benefits to operators in terms of cost, footprint and agility, and this forum should help accelerate adoption. We have already demonstrated with Sandvine an integrated virtualized traffic management and optimization solution for OTT content delivery, and look forward to expanding that work with other NFV.net members.

Indranil Chatterjee, SVP Products & Marketing, Openwave Mobility
Openwave Mobility is excited to be part of NFV.net and will continue to work closely with all members of the forum to make NFV a reality. We believe that demonstrable use cases will ultimately drive the ROI for NFV. We are already seeing streaming optimization solutions that reduce congestion and enhance QoE for all data including encrypted video form compelling initial applications for NFV.
