HP has unveiled the HP Internet of Things (IoT) Platform, a new service for CSPs to simultaneously manage heterogeneous sets of IoT sensors, operate vertical applications on Machine-to-Machine (M2M) devices, as well as process, analyze and monetize collected data in a single secure cloud platform.  The company also announced the new HP Energy Management Pack, the first vertical application developed for the HP IoT Platform for CSPs and utility providers to securely provide home automation and energy control to consumers, industries and municipalities.

According to HP, the new platform which is oneM2M/OMA-DM standards compliant will equip CSPs with end-to-end mobile device remote management functionalities including device discovery, configuration and control of IoT traffic.  This reduces infrastructure costs while isolating IoT traffic from traditional voice and data traffic. HP said that the IoT Platform is device-vendor independent and connectivity agnostic and is capable of controlling points on data, allowing customers to remotely manage millions of IoT devices for smart applications on the same multi-tenant platform in the cloud.
