D2 Technologies, a leading provider of embedded IP communications software platforms, partners with InterDigital, a mobile technology research and development company and solutions provider and Alcatel-Lucent to debut an end-to-end IMS communications suite that supports secure voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) together with VoLTE, IR.94 video call and RCS in a single platform, at the Mobile World Congress, which is starting today.

The solution, which includes D2's mCUE 4G software client, InterDigital's Smart Access Manager client and Alcatel-Lucent's IP Communications solution, is designed to provide service providers with optimized and interoperable VoLTE, RCS and ePDG-based secure VoWiFi functionality to more quickly and efficiently commercialize advanced IP-based communications capabilities over both mobile cellular and Wi-Fi networks. According to D2 Technologies, IP-based communications such as RCS, VoLTE (IR.92), secure VoWiFi, and IR.94 video calling can be seamlessly combined with traditional GSM CS and SMS communications to deliver on the GSMA's "Green Button Promise". D2 Technologies added that its mCUE 4G embedded software implements these rich-call and rich-messaging features natively in mobile handsets for a completely seamless user experience.

Doug Makishima, COO, D2 Technologies
The move to all-IP communications via VoLTE, IR.94 video calling and RCS not only provides users with richer communications functionality, it also enables operators to offer all of these services over Wi-Fi networks as well as their own mobile networks. Alcatel-Lucent is a leader in IMS infrastructure deployments and continues to innovate in mobile IP communications. By working together, we can provide pre-integrated and optimized solutions that accelerate operator deployments of these advanced communications features.

James Nolan, Executive VP, InterDigital Solutions
The quality of experience with seamless and secure access on the Wi-Fi networks is critical for the success of the new services like VoWiFi and RCS. We are excited about enabling the next generation of services using our core mobile technologies such as Smart Access Manager client.

Fran Heeran, General Manager, IP Communications Business, Alcatel-Lucent
We are excited to team with D2 and InterDigital to extend the seamless all IP communication services experience to more consumers and businesses through VoWiFi using the evolved Packet Data Gateway (ePDG), which is a new element in Alcatel-Lucent vEPC. As a result, service providers will be able to provide their mobile customers with greater access to high quality, secure ultra-broadband services from any device, any network, anywhere.
