Leading Paraguayan mobile operator Personal has deployed telecom solutions supplier Diametriq's Diameter Routing Engine (DRE) to integrate its online billing system with their voice and enhanced packet core network. Diametriq's DRE which is part of the Diameter Solution Suite (DSS) is designed to enable load balancing, AVP manipulation, traffic monitoring and session binding. The DRE provides industry standard 3GPP Diameter Routing Agent (DRA) functionality and is deployed on carrier compliant HP® hardware.
According to Diametriq, the DRE enables integration of the Online Charging System (OCS) for both voice and SMS billing. Voice charging is enabled via the Diameter Gy interface while SMS charging using the Ro interface. The DRE distributes billing traffic originating from fourteen Service Aware Serving Nodes (SASN) provided by Ericsson and destined for eight OCS servers using smart algorithms to enable optimum load sharing. A similar architecture is used to manage billing traffic from the SMSC server. The product is deployed in a fully redundant configuration.

Anjan Ghosal, CEO for Diametriq
While in the initial deployment, Personal is focused on providing smart load sharing, the built-in features for the platform will allow them to activate protocol mediation using AVP manipulation techniques. Personal is continuing to innovate by providing LTE services for its subscribers. We are pleased to have them use our Diameter signaling control products to enhance their existing network and future LTE services.

Mario Bort, CIO, Telecom Personal Paraguay.
The Diametriq DRA is an important element to provide control of and visibility into our signaling traffic. The Diametriq DRE/DEA will enable us to securely provide billing and roaming services to our subscribers.
