Midokura, a global startup focused on network virtualization, today announced strong continued company momentum, driven in part by the decision to open source the MidoNet network virtualization technology in 2014. Midukura said that its MidoNet has experienced swift adoption in the open community, in addition to new enterprise customer wins, partnerships and industry accolades.

The company added that it has received major endorcements from industry leaders, including Blue Jeans NetworkDellKVHNTTOrange LabsPuppet Labs and Toshiba, that rely on the Midokura Enterprise MidoNet (MEM) offering to build, run and manage virtual networks. MidoNet, quickly gaining popularity across geographies and organizations of all shapes and sizes, is a network virtualization platform that provides a software layer directly within existing physical network hardware, turning physical machines into a virtual platform that can scale to hundreds of thousands of virtual ports. MEM is an enterprise-class version of the MidoNet technology, strengthened with high-quality support and management tools.

Dan Dumitriu, CEO, Midokura
Given the success to date of our efforts to build a collaborative, non-vendor driven community around open networking, this important technology segment joins operating systems, virtualization, cloud orchestration and storage as others completely transformed by open source. We took a bold path in 2014 to let the community drive the product direction, roadmap and governance for MidoNet, while we focused on further innovation. We can expect more momentum and global adoption for the project in 2015.
