Chunghwa Telecom, the leading telecommunications operator in Taiwan, serving more than 30 million broadband, mobile and fixed line subscribers, has selected Envivio video solutions for its 4K HEVC streaming service trial. Envivio, a leading multi-screen video software solutions firm, said that they were leveraging on its Muse™ Ultra HD software to support two modes of 4K HEVC delivery to a wide range of devices for Chunghwa Telecom: VOD content delivered via unicast transfer method, and NVOD through multicast to HwaCom set-top boxes.

According to Chunghwa's executive who is involved in the project, the company chose Envivio as their video solutions provider based on its extensive expertise as pioneers in video processing and delivery software, as well as their support of next-generation formats and standards like 4K and HEVC. Leveraging the HEVC standard, Envivio said they are able to efficiently compress 4K content without losing video quality, making it easier and more affordable for them to deliver the highest quality video available to their consumers.

Alex Huang, Hwacom Vice President
Chunghwa Telecom and Envivio are both Hwacom’s strategic partners. In addition to this successful 4K/HEVC trial deployment, Hwacom delivered many Envivio OTT systems to Chunghwa Telecom to support its OTT business. Envivio’s exceptional product quality and support capability have helped both Hwacom and Chunghwa to solidify their OTT position in Taiwan. We look forward to working with both partners in the future.
