WebNMS, a division of ZOHO Corp. and a leading global provider of Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Telecom Network Management solutions, has released its technology predictions for the year 2015 centering on the topic of Internet-of-Things(IoT), a segment that has in 2014 moved from being a hype to a mainstream technology with widespread adoptions across key industry verticals especially transportation, healthcare and power. For service providers, IoT has opened up a host of new revenue opportunities as more enterprise and retail customers start subscribing to services that range from telematics to fleet management, from mobile health to smarthome and from connected car to smart cities. WebNMS take on the IoT segment for next year include the following:
Energy Efficiency:
WebNMS identifies that IoT enables enterprises, households and individuals to become smart consumers of energy by providing detailed visibility and intelligence into energy consumption and usage patterns. IoT adoption will help drill down to identify issues such as energy loss and wastage due to pilferage. Apart from real-time data, IoT is expected to drive sustainability goals in this sector.
Evolving Smart City Market:
Government initiatives will be driving the smart cities market, said WebNMS. For successful realization of the future smart cities, WebNMS says that there has to be collaboration between the major sectors which will be significantly transformed via the adoption of IOT/M2M, namely the healthcare, transport and utility. WebNMS added that the success of smart cities hinges on the high-speed broadband penetration, technology adoption by citizens as well as the ability of IoT technologies to ensure security and privacy of users.
Powering Security Management through the Internet of Things:
WebNMS also said that the need for improved security in their businesses will drive more companies to invest in IoT. IoT technologies can make businesses more secure with centralized management & control of remote devices, theft monitoring, alert notifications, lighting and HVAC control, fire & smoke detection.

WebNMS further added that IoT applications have the potential to transform every sector of business and society by enabling proactive decisions, process optimization and fostering innovative business models.
