- China Mobile Hong Kong has selected Ericsson as the sole supplier to further enhance its converged LTE FDD/TDD and Evolved Packet Core network to offer HD voice calls using the Voice-over-LTE(VoLTE) technology. The leading mobile operator in Hong Kong will also be leveraging Ericsson Charging System to offer users personalized bundles and innovative packages based on user behavior which allow users to manage their spend and receive notifications in real-time.
Under the deal, Ericsson will be providing a complete VoLTE solution, based on the IP Multimedia Subsystem with Call Session Control Function, Multimedia Telephony Application Server, Media Resource System, Session Border Gateway and software upgrade of the LTE FDD/TDD radio access network and Evolved Packet Core network, Service Aware Policy Control, User Data Consolidation and Home Subscriber Server. Additionally, according to Ericsson, the operator can cost-effectively meet the IP network requirements of smartness, simplicity, performance and scalability with its SSR 8000 Smart Services Router solution while its Charging System solution provides users with greater control of their roaming expenditure. The solution also enables an easy and visual way of creating and testing new services and bundles, shortening the time to market for China Mobile Hong Kong.
Ericsson said that it has been the sole supplier of China Mobile Hong Kong's LTE FDD network with partnership that extends to more than 17 years.
