Deutsch Telekom's subsidiary, T-Systems wins a major cloud order from ThyssenKrupp AG- a German multinational conglomerate corporation based in Duisburg and Essen, Germany - covering a large number of virtualization systems involving around 80,000 computer workstations and 10,000 server systems in 34 countries. According to T-systems, the seven years order worth 'three-digit million euro' represents the largest in the groups' history and will see T-Systems moving IT processes and services from the current 700 data rooms and eleven computing centers to five global twin-core data centers by the end of this year.
T-Systems said that in future, employees of ThyssenKrupp will obtain their workstation services, including applications such as Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft Lync, directly from the secure Telekom cloud. Employees of the industrial group can therefore flexibly and easily use devices at workstations worldwide and securely exchange data and documents, added T-Systems.
Reinhard Clemens, Member of AG Board of Management, Deutsche Telekom
The more complex a company's IT world, the more it is necessary to migrate to the cloud: Only this reduces costs, increases efficiency, and increases the flexibility of IT. We want to be the first choice for companies' digitization needs. The contract with ThyssenKrupp shows that we are heading in the right direction.
Klaus-Hardy Mühleck, Chief Information Officer, ThyssenKrupp AG
