Taisys's GreenRoam, last week announced that China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK) had entered an agreement with them to become the first mobile network operator globally to provide prepaid soft SIMs that can be provisioned through over-the-air (OTA) technology.

Taipei headquartered GreenRoam said that its softSIM OTA download services allows users, prior to travel, to purchase prepaid plans from local services providers using the slimduet® app -- a proprietary technology developed by GreamRoam. The soft SIM with the purchased prepaid plan is then downloaded onto the user's mobile phone over the air. Upon reaching the destination, users can immediately connect to the local telco services and stay online.

GreenRoam targets the travel market as the new source of growth in telco services and the company plans to unveil the soft SIM OTA download services at the 2015 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

CEO of GreenRoam, Moter Du
The slimduet® app is a cutting edge product inthe telecommunication industry. Future travelers will no longer need to constantly switch SIM cards in their phones to enjoy local telco services. By attaching the slimduet® SIM onto their original SIM card, a user can choose and purchase from various local operators, staying connected with data or voice plans.

Sean Lee, the Director and CEO of CMHK
Hong Kong's annual visitorship exceeds 60 million, with travelers coming from mainland China, Taiwan, Korea and other neighboring countries. Our partnership with GreenRoam aims to provide convenient prepaid services to visitors, which are also environmentally friendly. With slimduet® SIM, consumers can expect to enjoy not only HK prepaid services from China Mobile HK, but also those prepaid data services inJapan, Korea, andTaiwan. China Mobile HK has always dedicated itself to providing impeccable and professional telco services. The partnership with GreenRoam to provide softSIM OTA download services signifies yet another milestone in our endeavor to open up an efficient, eco-friendly and ground-breaking distribution channel. Using the internet as a delivery channel for mobile numbers, our sales reach will be extended way beyond our borders. This frees us from the constraints of physical distribution points and creates a paradigm shift in the telco competitive landscape.
