Procera Networks, , the global network intelligence company, announced that Tata Communications, a leading provider of A New World of Communications, has chosen its PacketLogicTM Intelligent Policy Enforcement (IPE) systems to enhance its mobile network operator (MNO) managed services portfolio. Tata Communications’ Hosted Policy Engine (HPE) is a management and enforcement platform which offers customers reduced complexity, costs and time for deployment and ongoing operations. The hosted implementation provides a pre-integrated best-of-breed policy control infrastructure solution on a “pay for consumption” basis. The platform enables service providers to granularly manage and monetise subscriber and application traffic across heterogeneous packet networks including CDMA, GSM, LTE, WiFi, and fixed broadband.

"Procera provides the detection, analysis and enforcement component that is one of the key elements of our HPE required to provide usage-based charging for operator-defined data policy applications. The company’s IPE system accurately classifies almost all information flows, including those which are often hard to track. The agile analysis and reporting capability offers our customers the ability to drill down from different angles for a thorough understanding of information flow consumption. This rich understanding and granular flow classification enables each provider to use our HPE to design and apply differentiated targeted policy control applications. These applications provide maximum value to each data subscriber and help generate exponential data revenue for the operator,” said John Landau, Senior Vice President of Technology and Services Evolution at Tata Communications.

"This effort introduces a new business model to MNOs who want to quickly and economically compete with Tier 1 mobile operator service offerings, and gives us another way to monetise our core intellectual property. Procera’s solutions enable rapid monetisation for new services and makes it possible for mobile operators of all sizes to participate in the significant revenue generating opportunities created by data services worldwide," said James Brear, President and CEO of Procera Networks.
