  • The OPNFV (Open Source Platform for Network Functions Virtualization) project gets a boost from new member companies that includes Tier 1 group operator Ooredoo. The leading technology solution providers, Array Networks, Midokura, and Sonus Networks are also joining the existing 44 members to support a carrier-grade, integrated, open source reference platform to advance the evolution of NFV and to ensure consistency, performance and interoperability among multiple open source components. The community-led industry supported open source reference platform for Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) aims to bring together end users and vendors to develop an integrated and tested open source NFV platform that can accelerate the introduction of new products and services.

Margaret Chiosi, President, OPNFV
OPNFV is about global participation by a diverse group of suppliers to create an open platform that we can all use to achieve the promise of NFV. With increasing interest throughout the industry, the project is poised to play a key role in the acceleration and availability of NFV. We welcome our new silver members, Array Networks, Midokura, Ooredoo and Sonus Networks, who represent the types of members we need, in helping us implement the goals of open source NFV.

Hernan Munoz, Group Chief Technology Officer, Ooredoo
We recognize the transformational potential of OPNFV for telecommunications companies. We are committed to helping accelerate this project as OPNFV will contribute to improve operational efficiencies and enable us to deliver new and faster services for our customers to enjoy.
