Pentaho last week announced that it will demonstrate its big data integration and analytics solution - Streamlined Data Refinery (SDR) - for the first time in Europe at O’Reilly Strata Conference and Hadoop World Barcelona. The company will show how enterprises can leverage the solution to streamline the process of the most difficult and time consuming data management jobs including setting the metadata structure, data blending and governance.

Pentaho said that its version 5.2, the SDR architecture includes new capabilities in the Pentaho platform to orchestrate the process of preparing large, diverse, blended data sets for queries on-demand using Hadoop.

Pentaho added that the SDR’s automated data modelling and publishing capabilities are industry firsts that put governed, blended data sets from across the enterprise at business users’ fingertips. The company noted that the Internet of Things, Big data and cloud all present companies with new opportunities to profit from their data, but these innovations also pose massive and urgent challenges to those responsible for managing and analyzing data.

Users want self-service analytics and to build custom data sets without having to involve IT. The Streamlined Data Refinery lets end users create customised data sets, bringing together all the data sources they require - relational, noSQL, Hadoop and others - in a consistent, governed and secure way by executing data integration processes on demand.
