Openwave Mobility, a software innovator enabling operators to manage and monetize mobile data, Wednesday announced that SaskTel, Canada's leading full-service communications provider, has successfully deployed the company's Smart User Repository (SUR) on its network in order to unify and simplify management of its subscriber data.

Openwave Mobility said that its SUR appealed to SaskTel because it is NFV-enabled, making it a future-proof solution that is flexible, cost-effective, feature rich and proven. SUR gives operators high speed and low latency access to subscriber data consolidated into a central repository that can be accessed by any external application, said Openwave Mobility.

Daryl Godfrey, Chief Technology Officer of SaskTel
The growth in our network and increased subscriber demand meant that we needed a more robust solution to manage subscriber data. We were impressed with the Smart User Repository's fast and flawless deployment and the immediate results it has delivered in terms of operational efficiencies.

Indranil Chatterjee, VP of Product, Sales and Marketing, Openwave Mobility
The Smart User Repository's incredible performance, reliability and flexibility while supporting full 3GPP UDR standards allows our customers to have a common UDR for multiple applications, thereby avoiding application-specific subscriber data stores. SUR is the most widely deployed solution of its kind including for one of the world's largest Tier 1 customers where it supports more than four billion transactions per day from more than 30 applications such as MMSC, SMSC and PCRF.
