Telecom Italia (TIM) launches LTE Advanced nationwide with Rome, Milan, Turin, Naples, Florence, Genoa, Palermo and Bari being among the first sixty cities to receive the new service. TIM's '4G+' will give its subscribers speeds of up to 180 Mbps with plans to bring the speeds up to 225 Mbps by early next year.

TIM's 4G+ achieves higher speeds by using carrier aggregation technology which combines two different frequency bands, in this case the 800, 1800 and 2600 MHz with 4G LTE Advanced compatible smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. According to TIM, the enhanced 4G network makes it possible for subscribers to enjoy high-definition multimedia content on the move with image quality of up to 4K. TIM said that it has conducted laboratory tests at its TILab, claiming to achieve speeds close to 300 Mbps.

The Italian mobile network operator is offering its consumer and business customers who sign up or have already signed up to 4G LTE offers access to 4G+ services free of charge and automatically up to 30th of April 2015.
