John Chambers, CEO and Chairman of Cisco in his closing session at this year's IOTWF in Chicago, announced Dubai as the host city for the 2015 Internet of Things World Forum (IoTWF). The annual meet which aims to accelerate the development of IoT took place in Chicago from the 14th to the 16th of this month attracting more than 1,500 attendees and 49 sponsors

According to a statement by Cisco, the selection of Dubai as the host for the next IoTWF was made by the IoTWF Steering Committee and aligns to Dubai's Smart City Vision which has already started transforming the government and citizen services in the state, putting the emirate at the forefront of innovation across a wide array of IoT/M2M services.

As more people, processes, data and things become connected, these interactions become more relevant and valuable than ever before, enhancing and supporting the technology vision of forward-looking organisations such as the Dubai Government, said Cisco.

His Excellency Mr Ahmad Bin Byat, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Smart Dubai Initiative and the CEO of Dubai Holding
It is an honour that the third annual Internet of Things World Forum will take place in Dubai in 2015. This is an exciting time for Dubai, the UAE and the entire Middle East region as a whole as we adopt sustainable technology solutions for better public safety and security, transportation, buildings, utilities, healthcare and education.  We look forward to welcoming and hosting the IoT community in Dubai in 2015 to once again enhance their understanding of what they can do to advance the Internet of Things, and maximize its benefit for their cities, organizations and the industry as a whole.

Wim Elfrink, Executive Vice President, Industry Solutions, and Chief Globalization Officer, Cisco
The 2014 Internet of Things World Forum in Chicago demonstrated that IoT is already here and now.  By selecting Dubai as the location for the 2015 annual meeting, we will focus on how to accelerate the IoT industry.  Dubai has established a proven track record in accelerating all aspects of city planning and realization, and we expect to mirror this success in advancing the IoT industry as the basis for country, city and industry digitalisation.
