  • StarHub partnering with Nokia conducted a live trial, showcasing augmented reality combined with location-based services by bringing ‘live’ sports action closer to spectators at the Singapore Sports Hub. The trial was done by deploying Nokia’s Liquid Applications solution at its 4G mobile base stations within the Indoor Stadium. The deployment will enable multiple real-time perspectives of ‘live’ events, such as sports, concerts, awards and parades to be delivered in high-definition to the spectator's mobile device.

  • According to Nokia, in the trial conducted on 21 October 2014, four ‘live’ video feeds of the Rising Stars Finals played at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore were delivered concurrently to spectators on mobile devices, giving them different perspectives of the action played out in the court. Spectators were able to zoom in on the action by selecting any preferred camera angle at any time.

  • Nokia’s Liquid Applications bring applications, content, popular Internet sites or enterprise solutions into the base station whereby these are stored, processed and delivered directly and rapidly to mobile devices, increasing customers' mobile surfing performance.

Mock Pak Lum, chief technology officer at StarHub
We are excited over the potential in moving digital content to the farthest edge of our mobile network – the base stations. This localized mobile content delivery significantly reduces lags and boosts surfing quality, offering our subscribers the best mobile broadband experience.

John Lancaster-Lennox, head of Asia South at Nokia Networks.
In collaboration with StarHub, we are proud to have showcased Asia’s first live demonstration of Video Orchestration services based on Liquid Applications at a global tennis competition in Singapore. In addition to boosting network performance, our Liquid Applications is capable of delivering innovative, localized and personalized mobile broadband services to subscribers. With this trial, StarHub has leveraged the unique capabilities of our solution for delivering the best-in-class service experience.
