Redknee Solutions, Tuesday announced that Oi, a leading mobile operator in Brazil, has successfully trialed its suite of virtualized billing, charging and policy management solutions to support its WiFi offload pilot during this year's FIFA World Cup. Redknee's cloud-based Wi-Fi Monetization and Offload solution helped Oi to launch its Tourist Wi-Fi service, enabling Oi to attract international users to its network, and generate new revenue streams.

According to Redknee, its Wi-Fi Monetization and Offload solution enabled Oi to reduce time to market to launch new services, improve the user experience, and extend revenue streams into new business lines, such as Wi-Fi connectivity at major sporting events.

Redknee added that service providers can use Wi-Fi to create new revenue-generating opportunities and provide a superior service experience to their customers.

Eduardo Aspesi, CMO at Oi
With over 600,000 visitors in Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, this event was a great opportunity for Oi to launch and showcase value of our Wi-Fi offering, especially to cost conscious inbound roamers. Furthermore, in addition to an increase in roaming usage seen during the World Cup, the Oi Tourist Wi-Fi pilot solution allowed us to differentiate our roaming service, offering Brazil's biggest Wi-Fi network, with more than 600,000 access points. We consider this a true win-win scenario for our customers. Redknee's innovative Wi-Fi solution has provided us with the capability to combine our mobile and Wi-Fi network, giving a better experience to the inbound roamers.

Lucas Skoczkowski, Redknee's CEO
We supported Oi to successfully leverage our cloud-based end-to-end Wi-Fi Monetization and Offload solution, which is a strong demonstration of Redknee's commitment and focus to provide our customers with innovative and cost-effective solutions. The launch of the Oi Tourist Wi-Fi pilot was done quickly and assuring the time-to-market to capture the increment of visitors during the 2014 FIFA World Cup with a unique offer. Redknee will continue to invest in our real-time software to support service providers worldwide, and advance our position as the provider of choice for monetization and subscriber management solutions.
