Rackspace, the leader in hybrid cloud, this week announced the release of OnMetal™ Cloud Big Data Platform, a turn-key potfolio of bare-metal access - dedicated hardware - to Hadoop clusters in public clouds at the Strata + Hadoop World conference. Rackspace said that the platform allows customers to deploy bare metal instances of Apache™ Hadoop® with Spark™ in three clicks, allowing data scientists to gather insights instantly and eliminate the need to configure and integrate complex hardware and software infrastructure.
The company has todate made the new cloud Hadoop offering in the North American market and is expected to roll out the platform in international data centers by the end of 2014.
Rackspace is offering the 'Big Data as a Service' via the company's Managed Cloud service, featuring both Hadoop and Spark hardware and software stack that promises greater elasticity and faster time to market.
With this announcement, Rackspace continues to expand the breadth and capability of its solution which currently supports the most popular big data platforms such as SQL and NoSQL databases, including Hadoop, Spark, MongoDB, Redis,
This solution breaks new ground for the world of big data. For the first time, Hadoop and Spark can have the best of both worlds: bare metal performance with cloud agility, all backed by Fanatical Support®.
