Chinese telecom equipment maker, ZTE is providing China Telecom with the technology to launch its eMBMS (evolved multiple broadcast multiple service) system in the eastern Chinese city of Wuxi on a hybrid 4G LTE network. LTE eMBMS P2MP (Point to Multi-point) multicast and broadcast technologies enable high bandwidth mobile video services to be delivered more efficiently.
The solution consist of ZTE’s IP RAN (radio access network) - ZXCTN 9000-E and ZXCTN 6000 technology, and the company's IP/MPLS (multiprotocol label switching) core aggregation portfolio - ZXCTN 9000-E.
According to ZTE, the compact ZXCTN 6000 series can be deployed at the IP RAN access layer, offering highly integrated multiple ports, including 10G/microwave ports. ZTE’s IP RAN products support many multicast technologies, e.g. VLAN/VPLS (virtual local area network/virtual private LAN service) IGMP (internet group management protocol) snooping multicast, PIM-SM/DM (protocol independent multicast sparse mode/dense mode), PIM-SSM (source-specific multicast), SSM-mapping, PIM-BFD(bidirectional forwarding detection), cross-domain multicast, GRE (generic routing encapsulation) multicast, P2MP LSP (point to multi-point line signal processing) and multicast filtration.
