Following the success of Ford Crew Chief in North America, Ford Motor Company (Ford) and Telogis are expanding their partnership to Europe to offer Ford Telematics services to customers in the region. Ford and Telogis made the announcement in conjunction with the upcoming IAA Commercial Vehicle Show scheduled to take place in Hannover, Germany. Telogis, a company that provides the platform for location intelligence is the exclusive technology provider for Ford Telematics.

According to a statement from both companies, Ford Telematics which is powered by Telogis technology will enable current and new Ford customers to have access to a wide range of information regarding their vehicles including vehicles/driver location, vehicle and driver performance and exclusive Ford vehicle diagnostics. The information is expected to help commercial customers to improve the management of their fleet in terms of mileage, fuel consumption, safety and resource utilization. Leveraging the information provided by the Telematics service, Ford said that its customers can reduce fuel costs up to 20%, citing a study by Frost and Sullivan in 2012 on Benefits of Fleet Management Systems.

Ford said that the solution is now available to its fleet customers as a dealer-installed option in selected European markets, offered through Ford's network of specialist Transit Centers, and is warrantied and serviceable at Ford dealerships throughout Europe.

"The launch of Ford Telematics powered by Telogis in Europe is an extension of what has become the industry-standard in OEM telematics in North America. Making this offering available to Ford's European customers will help them run more efficient, cost-effective and safer fleets and transform the way they do business.Based on the real-time data, the Ford Telematics powered by Telogis software platform delivers a comprehensive range of actionable business information that enables fleet managers to operate their vehicles in the most efficient way and to help ensure drivers are following safe and economical driving practices."
