ARRIS Group has introduced additions to its portfolio of advanced compression solutions at the recent IBC 2014, offering highest transcoding density for Ultra HD and multi-screen service. According to ARRIS, the new uplink/headend encoders/transcoders and downlink decoder/transcoders enable service providers to deliver advanced content experiences from end-to-end—maximizing bandwidth and ensuring the highest-quality video.

The portfolio consists of DSR-7400 Transcoder Integrated Receiver/Decoder (IRD), SE-7400 HEVC UHD/4K Encoder and ME-7000 Converged Compression Platform. The DSR-7400 is the fifth-generation of ARRIS's Transcoder IRD product family, which now comes with the HEVC technology for stunning UHD/4Kp60 resolution. The ARRIS SE-7400 is a high-performance single channel HEVC UHD encoder for live linear encoding up to 4Kp60, featuring advanced video compression techniques to deliver live content at very low bit rates. It serves as the encoding component in ARRIS's 4K delivery portfolio—creating an end-to-end 4K platform when paired with the DSR-7400 or UltraHD capable set-tops.

ARRIS's ME-7000 is a high-performance converged compression platform for multiscreen delivery of IPTV, cable and satellite applications, supporting multi-codec (MPEG-2, AVC, HEVC), multi-format support with SD/HD/UltraHD encoding and transcoding.

"Our three new compression solutions draw on a 20-year legacy of industry-leading video encoding and transcoding solutions. And, they join a portfolio of network solutions that is perfectly positioned to transform the entire video delivery chain. ARRIS is collaborating with services providers around the world to support their unique content delivery needs—empowering networks with efficient compression solutions that can scale to tomorrow's entertainment across the growing range of consumer devices."
