iStreamPlanet, an online video streaming provider for live events and Level 3 Communications team up to provide end-to-end multiscreen services for major media and entertainment enterprises. The services bring together Level 3's Video Cloud solution, which combines the company's global content delivery network (CDN) and Vyvx Solutions as well as Aventus, iStreamPlanet's live video encoding, multiscreen packaging and publishing service, to offer a single platform to acquire, encode, package, publish and deliver multiscreen live video on a global scale.

The two firms say that as the demand for more live events and live linear channels on all devices surges, content owners and distributors are quickly outgrowing their current hardware-based infrastructure. They are looking to cloud-based services to efficiently provide scalability, an evolving feature-set, and faster time to market to grow their businesses and stay competitive.

The partnership leverages on Level 3's content delivery network, including via its Vyvx broadcast fiber network, satellite and downlink capabilities and managed broadcast encoding/transcoding. iStreamPlanet' cloud-based Aventus powers live video ingest, processing, and multiscreen packaging including ad and slate insertion, Nielsen audience tracking, closed captioning, subtitles and content protection.

"The combination of Level 3's network services and iStreamPlanet's Aventus provides an end-to-end solution for broadcasters of all sizes. The scalability, flexibility and cost-effectiveness that Aventus offers as a cloud service enables content owners to accelerate deployments of live, multiscreen events and channels to meet the growing demand for a true TV everywhere experience."

"Pairing iStreamPlanet's Aventus and Level 3's Video Cloud services simplifies every aspect of video delivery, giving our joint customers the expertise, performance and global reach they need to deliver a high quality video experience and take advantage of cost and operational efficiencies. The combined services we announce today with iStreamPlanet provide a superior operational environment for video publishers. The live encoding and multiscreen packaging and publishing offered on the Aventus cloud service are a great fit for the operational ease that we strive to offer our customers as they develop their video businesses."
