Tango Telecom Inks Policy Control Expansion Deal with Robi Axiata

Robi Axiata, one of the three largest mobile operators in Bangladesh with more than 25 million subscribers has signed another major upgrade and expansion deal with Tango Telecom for its policy control solution (Policy and Charging Rules Function -PCRF). The second expansion order is to further increase the operator’s capacity to handle the significant uptake of its mobile data services by its rapidly growing subscriber base, said Tango Telecom.

Tango Telecom's Policy Control solution that went live in November 2013 enables Robi Axiata to rapidly create and launch highly innovative mobile data plans and promotions such as tiered service level packages, zero-rating, social media usage, volume and time-based quotas, pay-per-use packages such as Bandwidth on Demand.

According Tango Telecom, the operator’s marketing team can now create and implement all mobile data plans and promotions inhouse, revising existing plans and launching new plans daily in response to market demands.

"The flexibility and service velocity offered by Tango Telecom’s Policy Controller has allowed us to launch in excess of 400 data plans in response to our subscribers’ increasing appetite for data services.  We have increased our data revenues and our average data usage per subscriber.  We are also seeing an impressive uptake on new data plans and promotions because we can now offer the most innovative subscriber-centric data services on the market.

-         A.K.M. Morshed, Chief Technology Officer, Robi Axiata

"As Robi continues to grow its subscriber base, it is paramount that the mobile data services can handle the demands of current and future subscribers.  Robi has recognised that Tango Telecom delivers a robust and highly scalable market-leading Policy solution, coupled with the experience required to support Robi with its long-term growth plans.”

-         Mayoor Mahendra, Vice President APAC, Tango Telecom
