At the ongoing VMworld® 2014 event, NetApp was announced as a key design partner for VMware Virtual Volumes, the new storage architecture for software-defined data center approaches, extending their existing relationship. Both companies will continue to foster deep alignment to enable mutual customers to better manage data across any cloud

NetApp said that as organizations move to software-defined service delivery within the hybrid cloud, optimal storage and data management will be at the foundation for success.

According to NetApp, it delivers software-defined storage today with clustered Data ONTAP®, OnCommand® management, and FlexArray software and combined with VMware solutions such as VMware vSphere® and VMware vCloud Suite®, enables data to travel seamlessly across clouds toward a mutual vision for an era of hybrid cloud.
