According to Solomon Star, Telikom PNG Limited and Bmobile will roll out a $US100 million 3G/4G mobile network from April next year. The 3G/4G service is expected to start from the capital city of Port Moresby and followed by the rest of the country by the end of 2015.
Telikom PNG CEO Michael Donnelly was qouted saying, “As you know Telikom and Bmobile are building one new 3G/4G network across the country, we are co-investing in that and that stops any duplication of government investment in a very competitive mobile telephony network to compete with the major player and it will be very future ready.” Donnelly added, “I think the Vodafone deal in terms of branding does a couple of good things."
Last month, the Vodafone Group signed a non-equity partnership agreement with Bmobile as the exclusive partner under a new Partner Market agreement to jointly offer its products and services to businesses and consumer customers in the two markets.
