Openet Virtualizes Real-Time Charging System, Offering E2E Virtualized BSS Infrastructure

Openet today announced that it has virtualized its real-time charging system, which dramatically improves time-to-market for innovative new services while delivering significant cost savings.

Openet, a global leader of real-time transaction management software and services, said that by virtualizing its full BSS capability, it can offer a highly agile and flexible system capable of testing, developing, launching and amending new services and business models much more quickly. It enables mobile operators to more rapidly monetize new capabilities including VoLTE QoS management, shared data plans and sponsored data in a matter of weeks as compared to months and years using legacy systems.

The new BSS virtualization solution builds on Openet’s existing virtualized policy and mediation systems, its secure API gateway technology and its Fusionworks platform.

Openet said it has in 2012 deployed the world’s first large scale, commercially available virtualized policy system which has been optimized for a leading tier one operator with more than 100 million subscribers.

"Operators have to transform the way that they do business and this change is being driven by the need to innovate. BSS virtualization is a key enabler for innovation and will provide operators with the agility and flexibility to quickly capitalise on new revenue generating opportunities. While adopting NFV is crucial, deploying the technology in isolation is not enough. Operators must work with BSS specialists that have experience of deploying innovative solutions that fully realize the many advantages of this revolutionary network architecture.”
