RAD, an industrial IoT (IIoT) and edge computing solutions vendor, and Actility, an IoT connectivity solutions vendor, on Wednesday announced a strategic partnership in order to facilitate deployment of IoT use cases for power, gas and water utilities, smart cities, transportation systems and many other verticals.

The companies agreed on technical and business cooperation and mutual promotion of the integrated RAD SecFlow Secure IIoT Gateway with LoRaWAN and edge computing and Actility’s ThingPark IoT platform. RAD’s SecFlow now allows seamless connection to Actility’s ThingPark LoRa network servers.

IoT gateways use LoRaWAN to connect smart devices to the cloud for data processing and management. With the trend toward edge computing for lower latency and higher availability, there is a rising demand for IIoT gateways  that support more than secure networking functionality. Such is RAD’s SecFlow’s unique offering, which includes onboard server functionality capable of hosting third-party containers.

Data collected from LoRa field sensors is backhauled over secured links into many of the major cloud IoT platforms connected to Actility’s ThingPark, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS IoT Core, IBM Watson, Google CloudIoT, PTC Thingworx, and others.

Ilan Tevet, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at RAD
Thanks to the pre-integration work we have done with Actility, we are able to bring unique value to IoT project owners.

Olivier Hersent, CEO at Actility
RAD’s expertise in IIoT innovation, coupled with Actility’s advanced connectivity solutions portfolio will allow quicker and more secure deployments of LoRaWAN solutions across many IoT segments on all continents as well through common distributors and system integrators.
