Latvian Operator Tet recently announced that it has started work to deliver an unprecedented home broadband speeds with the latest generation of Wi-Fi 6 routers.

The Operator said it will provide broadband speeds of up to 10Gbps to customers. As a result, the home network will be almost ten times more powerful than the fastest Internet available in Latvia today. The pilot project envisages that the first more than 1,000 homes to have the opportunity to connect the super-fast 10Gbps optical broadband network this summer, with further expansion of the network in Riga and later elsewhere in Latvia.

Unlike mobile and many other fixed Internet connections, Tet's super-fast 10Gbps broadband will provide symmetrical speeds - up to 10Gbps for both download and upload. With this speed, the quality and capabilities of distance learning and remote working will improve, as well as improving the experience of online and real-time video conferencing and video games, remote diagnostics and patient care and the speed of data transmission and the security of connections and data storage.

The fastest and most visible beneficiaries will be those who work with large files and data on a daily basis, such as graphic designers, video artists, content creators and, of course, video game enthusiasts.

Uldis Tatarčuks, Chairman of the Board of Tet
