Orange Exposes APIs with Apigee Digital Platform to Create Rich Mobile & Web Apps

Orange has selected Apigee's digital platform to power the APIs (application programming interfaces) and big data for Orange partners and developers to create Innovative telco-enhanced apps. The Orange Partner program exposes a portfolio of APIs that enable developers and partners to build rich mobile and Web applications using Orange core networks and services.

According to Apigee, Orange already promotes several APIs, including enriched communications with joyn, machine-to-machine, search and personal APIs, and it aims to extend its offerings throughout 2014 starting with its cloud, secure access and customer profiles. It added that Orange has chosen the Apigee platform to ensure a smooth and seamless journey for partner and app developers.

Having the API solution in place, Orange Partner will therefore be able to create new business opportunities through the cloud, 4G, near-field communications (NFC), TV, smart home and more.

"We wanted to highlight and provide access to our portfolio of APIs and enhance our ecosystem's developer journey through a simple self-service solution, and Apigee is the backbone technology that enables this. We selected Apigee for its innovative technology, for its thought leadership in APIs, apps and data, and for its experience with similar initiatives in other large enterprises."

-  Thierry Souche, SVP Orange Labs Products & Services

"Orange is a forward-thinking, innovative company, and we're working with the team to expose a wide range of APIs that can be used by professional developers to create new services. This is a fantastic opportunity for Orange partners to create new experiences and open up new revenue streams using these APIs, and we're excited to see the imaginative ideas that will come from this."

-  Ed Anuff, VP of Product Strategy, Apigee
