CommScope and The Fast Mode recently hosted a webinar entitled 'Path to 10G: How DOCSIS 3.1 and FTTx Pave Way for Next Generation Broadband'.

The webinar, which took place on the 3rd of September 2020, discussed the evolution of cable/HFC technology, focusing on the leap from DOCSIS 3.0/3.1 to DOCSIS 4.0. It examined the transitioning of APAC's cable operators from cable TV providers to triple-play operators providing video, Internet and VoIP services. It discussed a country specific case study and looked at the factors driving the deployment of HFC. The session also assessed some of the challenges faced by APAC cable operators in the region, along with discussion of future operator opportunities.

In the next part, The Fast Mode took a look at the evolution of FTTx and the types of FTTx connectivity with a discussion on APAC market growth and how today's content and applications are driving this market, including the growth contributed by IoT. Apart from sharing a country case study for FTTx deployment, this section also discussed the full fiber strategy being implemented in selected countries worldwide. The impact of COVID-19 on both the cable and FTTx markets was also briefly analysed.

During the webinar, CommScope's Network and Cloud expert John Ulm shared how CommScope offers migration paths that allow operators to get the most out of their existing networks and become the foundation for tomorrow's success as well as prepare for the bandwidth and latency demands of 10G. John examined the surge in bandwidth as a result of COVID-19 and discussed both shorter term solutions for cable operators such as adding more DOCSIS 3.1 capacity as well as longer term solutions such as fiber deep FTTx, ultra-high splits, Extended Spectrum DOCSIS (ESD) and Full Duplex DOCSIS (FDX).

With decades of experience, CommScope has helped MSOs, cable operators and fixed network operators roll out advanced network options targeting higher capacity, lower latency, enhanced security and reduced operational costs - at a pace that doesn't strain the workforce or budget.

Watch the recorded webinar here to find out how you can make your network future-ready - regardless of topology or technology.
