Swarm Technologies recently announced that it has gained a full regulatory approval from FCC to operate commercially in the US.

Founded in 2016, Swarm Technologies is a satellite company that aims to provide low-cost global connectivity. The company’s SpaceBEE satellites are tiny things that will provide a connection to a wide array of devices.

Sara Spangelo, CEO and Co-Founder of Swarm Technologies, wrote in a blog post that, "The approvals include our Part 25 license and our '1 million user devices' license from the FCC. We also have approval for several ground stations around the globe, a critical component of our network. Securing these licenses has been a major undertaking, and I’m very grateful for all the hard work our team has invested over the past few years. We would also like to thank the regulators at the FCC, the ITU, and various agencies around the world for being great partners through this process."

In order to provide affordable satellite connectivity worldwide, Swarm is now focused on gaining regulatory approvals in additional countries around the world. The Company currently have market access in the UK, New Zealand, Germany, Sweden, Antarctica, and International Waters. Swarm said it has deployed ground stations in the US, UK, Antarctica, New Zealand, and the Azores, with additional signed partnership agreements in place for several more. It anticipate having more than 30 ground stations installed by the end of the summer, which will be one of the largest ground station networks ever deployed for a satellite communications company.
