Omnitele has been selected to design new 4G LTE network on 450MHz frequency band by Ukko Mobile network, a provider of mobile data network in Finland. The mobile network upgrade from the existing CDMA 450 technology is scheduled to be commercially launched in autumn 2014.
The scope of work includes radio network design, mitigating the interference issues related to co-existence with TV broadcast network, and country border interference coordination. Omnitele is tasked to maximize mobile data customer experience and minimize expenditures on network infrastructure.
Once launched, Ukko Mobile will be the world’s first commercial deployment of a countrywide LTE network on 450MHz frequency band, said Omnitele.
“Ukko Mobile is clearly in challenger position in Finnish mobile market landscape, especially from frequency resources point of view. Deploying disruptive technology like LTE450 is obviously a good technology strategy. It gives splendid capacity and totally new value for the 450MHz band in mobile data use. And the coverage properties are truly impressive: countrywide network in whole Finland (~340 000 km2) can be achieved with only few hundred sites."
- Mikko Jrvinen, Senior Consultant and project manager from Omnitele
““The key win of our new LTE450 network is high reliability, low latency and superior geographical coverage. The network enables totally new opportunities and use cases for authorities, businesses and remote working – especially outside urban areas and in the outback of Finland. We are really proud and excited of our new network and the business potential we have in it. Much of the credit also belongs to Omnitele team who showed true expertise, professionalism and agility during the network modernisation project,” says .”
