Deutsche Telekom announced that it is transforming its own internal IT systems for a quicker network build-out and better customer logistics.
In a series of steps, they will standardize the existing architecture with various different planning and logistics systems. To do so, Deutsche Telekom will be relying on SAP S/4HANA, the real-time solution provided by the world leader in company software.
Deutsche Telekom can use SAP S/4HANA to create new models for data analysis, artificial intelligence, and predictive planning. Among the first set of subprojects is the planning for the 5G network and fiber-optic build-out. The individual steps involved will be significantly accelerated using a uniform pool of data without system discontinuities. Numerous groups will profit from this, including customers who in future will be receiving the goods they have ordered more quickly – ideally on the same day. The entire process, from ordering and storage logistics to delivery, is then mapped in one system.
Deutsche Telekom counts on SAP as a partner in its digitalization. The two companies have had a close working relationship for years.

It’s all about getting more from the data we already have. By standardizing our IT systems, we will be substantially more efficient in terms of network planning, and our customers will benefit from quicker logistics processes.
Hartmut Thomsen, Head of the Middle & Eastern Europe Region, SAP
We want to support Deutsche Telekom in its vision of consolidating the IT landscape and getting it ready for the digital challenges to come in the future.
