At a recent user conference “5Germany” organized by Handelsblatt and Deutsche Telekom, numerous board members of large and medium-sized companies discussed specific industrial requirements for 5G. The goal is a joint approach for the 5G expansion by network operators, industry and politics.

Deutsche Telekom put the first 5G sites into operation at the beginning of September. By the end of the year, around 300 5G antennas are planned to be transmitting. In the fall of 2018, Deutsche Telekom emphasized the 5G dialogue with the industry as part of an eight-point program for network expansion. Following the end of the frequency auction and the launch of the 5G network, the company intends to leverage the 5G potential together with the industry.

With "5Germany", Deutsche Telekom emphasizes the joint responsibility of industry and politics in expanding the new standard. Part of this approach are Deutsche Telekom's so-called campus networks. They are the core of the 5G expansion for the industry. There is already a great deal of interest in them today. Campus networks combine the public network with a private company network. This enables, for example, the automated transport of goods on company premises. Just like the remote maintenance of machines with the help of augmented reality. At the same time, campus networks guarantee a high level of security. Because data only leaves the private network if a company allows it.

Tim Hotges, CEO of Deutsche Telekom
And thus also the economic success in our country. We want to make Germany a 5G pioneer for industrial applications. The expansion of the 5G network and rapid industrial deployment are the prerequisites for consolidating our status as a leading economic nation.
