Flaircomm Microelectronics, a high-tech company developing devices for the automotive industry, has integrated Gemalto's M2M solution in their telematics control unit (T-Box). The solution which is designed for car manufacturers in China includes the Cinterion® MIM and integrates smoothly with in-car cellular networks.
The T-box is ruggedized for extreme conditions including high temperatures, pressures and vibrations. It can inform the driver of the car conditions such as oil pressure, car speed, and engine status, as well as providing information on nearest amenities like petrol stations and convenience stores, said Gemalto. It added that if the car breaks down or is involved in an accident, an emergency call (eCall) will also be triggered automatically for assistance and medical help.
