Napatech, Spirent to Demo 100Gbps Packet Capture with Zero Packet Loss at Interop Tokyo

Napatech and Spirent Communications will showcase a live demonstration of network test traffic capture with zero packet loss using Napatech's 100 Gbps accelerator at Interop Tokyo.

The demonstration will show the Napatech NT100E3-1-PTP accelerator reliably capturing a 100 Gbps test traffic generated by Spirent TestCenter software on Spirent SPT-N4U with bursts at maximum transmission rate with zero packet loss. The test enviroment consists of Dell PowerEdge R720 server, two Napatech PCI-SIG® compliant NT100E3-1-PTP accelerators, Spirent TestCenterSPT-N4U chassis

  • and Sumitomo 100GBASE-LR4 CFP4 optical transceiver modules.
  • Adoption of 100 Gbps connections in the core of the network is being driven by high-bandwidth applications such as video on demand and high-performance computing, as well as server virtualization and high-speed applications in data centers.

"As we enter the 100G era, network equipment manufacturers will need products that can help them stay one step ahead of the data growth curve. In 100 Gbps network analysis, features such as load distribution and slicing inside GTP tunnels will be crucial, both to accelerate application performance and to reduce the amount of data processed by the server. Our 100 Gbps accelerator offers these features, as well as a way to reliably increase performance of network management and security applications. Napatech is committed to producing high performance and low risk solutions that enable faster time-to-market for our customers."

- Henrik Brill Jensen, CEO, Napatech

"Bandwidth intensive applications are driving 100G Ethernet to the network edge. At these speeds it is difficult to ensure the accuracy of even basic tests such as Layer 2 performance benchmarking. With a system clock resolution of 2.5 ns, which is twice as fast as required to support Ethernet at 100 Gbps, Spirent solutions provide the accuracy required to evaluate the performance and QoE of services delivered over 100G Ethernet. Spirent helps data center operators meet the extreme challenges of validating the performance and scalability of cloud applications and inter-cloud workload migrations."Deploying one of the most sophisticated DAS networks in the world for the London 2012 Olympic Games prepared us well for these projects in Brazil. The stadium environment is unique in many ways when it comes to designing and installing a wireless coverage network, and the insight we gathered during London 2012 has meant we can supply a world-class communications system that will support the fans during upcoming major sporting events”.

- Angus Robertson, Vice President of Segment Marketing, Spirent
