10Gbps Wi-Fi, Huawei Completed Lab Testing

Huawei has successfully conducted 10Gbps Wi-Fi service testing in laboratory trials at Huawei’s campus in Shenzhen. According to a statement by Huawei, the trials on 10Gbps Wi-Fi prototype achieved a record transmission data rate of 10.53Gbps on 5GHz frequency bands, delivering 10 folds faster data than the fastest existing Wi-Fi. This is made possible through newer technologies such as MIMO-OFDA, intelligence spectrum allocation and interference coordination and hybrid access.

As the demand for ultra-fast connectivity for smartphone applications continues to drive the need for higher data transmission rates, the next generation of WiFi access will need to deliver a better user experience, especially in densely populated environments requiring high density deployment such as enterprise offices, airports, stadiums, shopping malls and coffee shops, said Huawei. Huawei believes that ultrafast Wi-Fi could become commercially available from 2018 pending the agreement of global standards requirements and sufficient chipset availability.
