Vodafone Germany announced that it is using the nano-trenching method for the first time for expansion of the fiber-optic network in Lower Saxony.
According to Vodafone, with this method fiber optic cables are laid 40 times faster than the classic with excavator and shovel. This brings up to 600 meters of fiber optic cable into the ground every day - with only minimal restrictions for road traffic and residents.
In the coming weeks, this gentle fine-cut process will create a state-of-the-art fiber optic network for around 50 companies in the Gehrden Ost and Bünteweg / Levester Straße industrial parks, said the Operator.
With Nano-Trenching, the cable is routed 6 cm deep into the asphalt surface during the fiberglass removal with a step cut. Digitization needs infrastructure. In order to enable the expansion of gigabit-capable communication networks quickly and comprehensively, the use of efficient laying methods is essential. However, previous measures in open construction are decidedly too long, affecting traffic and residents, said Vodafone.
