Vodafone Germany has started deploying beamforming that uses intelligent antenna technology in the country.
The intelligent antenna technology quintuples the available LTE capacities of a mobile mast. This means that five times more people can be on the net at the same time. Vodafone has now launched the technology in Germany for the first time to bring more LTE coverage to the country. The Operator is gradually activating beamforming at around the beginning of the year in some 50 rural communities.
The technology combines up to 128 specially arranged tiny antennas in the smallest space. The individual antennas are not only very small, but also intelligent. They always know the best air interface to reach customers directly. This increases the available speeds for users in upload and download. At the same time, this also increases the overall capacity, so that even more users can be networked at the same time. The mobile network provides the required capacity for each application in such a way that it can be optimally executed.
Customers of Vodafone can use the new technology in these regions with the GigaCube to surf fast at home. The GigaCube is an LTE router with SIM card that brings Internet via mobile directly from the socket in the households.

With clever antennas, we are now specifically improving the network supply in rural areas - in homes and on the street. That's how we bring fast Internet to more people outside of the big cities.
