DISH Network has selected Ericsson to deliver a radio access and core network for its Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) network slated for completion in March 2020.

Ericsson leveraged its global wireless radio expertise to complete the initial radio frequency (RF) design for DISH’s nationwide NB-IoT network earlier this year.

Ericsson and DISH Network have validated NB-IoT data transmissions based on the 3GPP standards, including, for the first time in the United States, extended range connections up to 100km from a base station.

DISH’s network will include Ericsson Radio System NR-capable radios. DISH has also installed, commissioned and successfully completed interoperability testing of the Ericsson Cloud Core network.

Ericsson is the first wireless vendor DISH has announced for its network deployment.

Niklas Heuveldop, President and Head of Ericsson North America
We are excited that DISH has decided to partner with Ericsson to address the IoT opportunity. We believe that NB-IoT holds great potential for both consumers and businesses across the U.S.

Tom Cullen, EVP of Corporate Development, DISH
In addition to planning and deployment, Ericsson will be a key partner in certifying compliance with DISH’s coverage specifications.
