Vodafone on Monday announced it will be collaborating with chip designer Arm on its integrated SIM (iSIM) technology.

The two companies will work together to advance this technology, and agree the iSim will be critical in accelerating the market development of cellular IoT by delivering scalable, commercially viable solutions and significantly reducing the cost of connected IoT devices.

Vodafone and Arm see this collaboration as a path forward in which Arm iSIM technology will help pave the wave for a much greater variety of consumer and Enterprise IoT products.

Luke Ibbetson, Head of R&D and Strategy, Vodafone Group
With Arm, we will be able to deliver the next generation of IoT devices that will be faster, cheaper and more secure than ever before. We will be able to accelerate the roll-out of cellular IoT devices, bringing the benefits of a truly connected world to more people, more quickly.

Paul Williamson, VP and GM, IoT Device IP Line of Business, Arm
Arm has a vision of a trillion connected devices by 2035, and each of these devices will need a secure identity, enabling stakeholders to establish trust.
