Vodafone Spain announced that it has started the pre-commercial deployment of Non-standalone(NSA) 5G network in central areas of Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Valencia, Bilbao and Malaga, using the 3.7Ghz band.
Following the 5G spectrum award last week, Vodafone Spain in collaboration with Huawei has deployed more than 30 5G antennas in the different cities. 5G coverage has been provided to downtown areas, technology parks or university zones where the first pilots of the new technology will be carried out.
The new 5G network allows speeds up to 2.2 Gbps in data download, improving network capacity and reducing the speed of response or latency to optimal levels for applications of telemedicine, autonomous car or virtual reality, among others. The 5G network of Vodafone will enable new multimedia services and applications that require ultra-fast connections. It will also facilitate the development of smartcities and new business services and public administrations in areas such as automotive, health, etc.
