Oi, Brazil’s largest telecom operators, has partnered with Opera Mini to offer its mobile browser free to 50 million Oi subscribers, offering a faster and cost-efficient experience. In addition, Oi is giving away a time limited offer for free access to Facebook and Twitter for its users when used in the Opera Mini browser.
Opera which has more than 248 million users, uses page compression that can save up to 90 percent on mobile browsing costs, said Opera. The new Opera Mini 7, also comes with the Smart Page -- a one-page summary of all the updates from a user’s Facebook and Twitter feeds, as well as news and the ability to add other feeds to your page.
“Opera Mini is already loved by Brazilians, and this, combined with Oi’s reach, will further strengthen Opera’s position in the market,” says Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “Designed for speed and ease of use, Opera Mini provides insanely fast browsing – up to six times faster than other browsers on both 2G and 3G networks.”
