Aricent has launched  IMSLite, an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) core software framework that enables IP calls and multimedia services and can be leveraged to support VoLTE services. The Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) ready solution which operates on top of Linux in any virtualized environment, supports collapsed IMS core hosting proxy, interrogating and serving Call Session Control Functions (P, I and S-CSCF).

Aricent said that the solution is targeted at niche low and mid-subscribers’ markets such as public safety and defence. IMSLite supports carrier grade features like emergency services: load balancing, avalanche handling, overload, and admission control. In addition, IMSLite can also be placed along with Aricent EPCLite, a highly mature, field deployed and interoperable Evolved Packet Core (EPC) software offering for supporting network-in-a-box solution.

“IMS paves the way to an all IP core and is the preferred network node for LTE networks offering VoLTE and multimedia services,” said Pratyush Dasgupta, Vice President at Aricent. “Aricent IMSLite helps equipment vendors quickly build robust IMS systems on any generic hardware platform, drastically reducing their product cost while accelerating time to market for new products.”
