A Tier 1 cable operator has awarded a five million worth contract for PeerApp UltraBand transparent caching. The cable operator, a multiple-system operator (MSO) has selected the solution to guarantee its subscriber quality of experience (QoE) by intelligently caching and bringing the most frequently requested Internet content closer to the subscriber.

According to PeerApp, before the implementation of operator caching, the cable operator's subscribers were unhappy with the quality of their broadband service due to congestion at internet traffic exchange points that are not managed by the operator. Since UltraBand has been installed in the network, customers have seen the difference with a much better overall quality of experience, it added.

PeerApp also noted that its UltraBand solution was selected by this cable operator due its ability to scale to very high capacities, and to be deployed at different locations within the network.

We offer cable operators the caching triple play – quality of experience, cost savings, and over-the-top content monetization,” said Robert Mayer, CEO at PeerApp. “By implementing PeerApp’s multi-service caching infrastructure they are ensuring quality delivery of a wide variety of popular video and web content.”
