Mojo Networks has partnered with Edgecore Networks and The Open Compute Project Foundation to deploy a large-scale “Open WiFi” network during the OCP U.S. Summit in San Jose, CA, to be held March 20–21, 2018.

Expected to cover more than 45,000 square feet of the San Jose Convention Center, Mojo’s Cognitive WiFi will serve as the network operating system (NOS) for wireless access points from Edgecore Networks. This interoperable network will deliver high-performance secure WiFi to the anticipated 3,000 attendees gathering to discuss the benefits of an open hardware ecosystem.

Mojo Networks first joined the Open Compute Project in 2017 and has since launched two enterprise-grade, SDK-enabled, Wave 2 802.11ac access points based on ONIE (Open Network Install Environment) open standards.

The Open Compute Project, an open source initiative originally spearheaded by Facebook, is reimagining proprietary IT hardware to make data centers more efficient, flexible and scalable. The 2018 OCP U.S. Summit marks the seventh since its inception in 2011.

Rick Wilmer, CEO of Mojo Networks
At Mojo, we are determined to advance the drive to open standards, thus eliminating vendor lock-in and the inflated prices for enterprise grade WiFi. Customers deserve a future where access points all interoperate like light bulbs, and our collaboration with Edgecore on the Open WiFi deployment at OCP Summit is proof that there is no technological reason this goal cannot be realized.

George Tchaparian, CEO of Edgecore Networks
The combination of the Mojo NOS and Edgecore open hardware powering the OCP Summit network demonstrates that open WiFi networks are ready for large scale deployment.
