Algerie Telecom, the state owned telecom operator in Algeria and ZTE have signed an agreement to jointly build a full-service GPON FTTx network in the country.

The network will deliver a brand-new fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) experience enabled by a high-speed Internet, ushering Algerie Telecom's home access service into the 100M+ era.

Under the agreement, ZTE will provide Alegerie Telecom with an end-to-end turnkey service within one year, helping the operator design and build an active FTTx architecture while also offering network management services.

The project will enable the operator to upgrade its business model by offering more innovative and customized services. Users will be able to connect to the Internet via mobile devices, computers, TVs and set-top boxes (STBs). Diverse broadband services will be made available to users anytime and anywhere.
